Why Ann Arbor Christian School is so important
It is a simple but profoundly life-changing fact that to know and love Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and the truths that come with that conviction are the greatest gifts we can give children. There is nothing greater that Christians can labor together to do than to lay that firm foundation of Jesus Christ for every student at our school. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth (3 John 1:3-5).
We also know and experience that our students are living in a time when courageous, engaging, and articulate Christian leaders are in extreme need to be beacons for Jesus Christ in their communities. We are living in a period in American history where our faith and convictions are being challenged, dismissed, and even discriminated against.
In this climate, it is crystal clear and beyond doubt that the place of Christian schools is more essential than ever to help raise the next generation of Daniels – young men and women who, in the face of tremendous pressures and cultural changes around them, will hold firmly to their faith and convictions and employ them in a way that serves to enlighten and transform the world we live in: as continuing students, as future parents, as developing leaders in their workplaces, academia, and government, and as caretakers of Creation. As summarized by 1 Peter 3:13-16, this steadfast engagement with our neighbors and the world should tangibly convey both conviction in God’s truths and love for our fellow man: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”
Starting in the early formative years in the lives of children, Ann Arbor Christian seeks to work alongside parents and churches to raise these new generations of Christians who are distinguished by being deeply rooted in the historic Christian faith, unwavering in their convictions, intelligent and mature in their academic skills, savvy to global culture, actively engaged with their neighbors and the world, discerning, and faithful in difficult situations.
