Shaping Minds

At Ann Arbor Christian School, we want to engage and challenge every student to aim high and to achieve more. Academic excellence refers to our desire to provide a holistic educational experience that highly promotes individual growth and emphasizes the entirety of a child as a unique and cherished creation of God. It refers to the drive and challenge of the school to foster the attainment of each student’s God-given potential through a high-quality curriculum taught by talented and dedicated teachers.

  • We place an emphasis on educating the whole person created by God.
  • Excellence means surpassing expectations and benchmarks and building a strong culture in which all students and staff are striving for high standards as a fundamental way to honor God.
  • Success is measured by individual growth and achievement.
  • We are convinced that, since learning and faith complement each other and are inseparable, academic excellence incorporates an unshakable Christian worldview.

Ann Arbor Christian School recognizes that everyone conducts their lives based on a set of beliefs and values that govern their worldview and how they respond to the world. AACS promotes an education that examines all areas of learning through the lens of the historic Christian faith. We provide an environment where faith is nurtured and the intellect can excel, and the two profoundly and intelligently reinforce each other.

Our challenging curriculum teaches important raw knowledge and facts, such as key events of the Civil Rights Movement, rules for the proper use of commas, the quadratic formula, the order of the ten plagues in Exodus, and the periodic table of elements. Such factual content equips them to see the world with greater fullness and clarity. More importantly, our classrooms equip students with information gathering, evaluative, and communication skills. Understanding the motives behind the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, how commas add clarity to sentences, how events in nature are modeled by quadratic functions, how the plagues targeted the core beliefs of the ancient Egyptians, and recognizing the patterns present in the periodic table are examples of such critical thinking skills that produce students known for their intelligence, academic integrity, and pursuit of truth. Our core curriculum covers language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and biblical studies.

  • Teachers weave different disciplines together in order for the students to see relationships between different subject areas and to develop a sharp mind that sees connections in the world around them.
  • We strive to meet and exceed all state and Common Core curricular standards.
  • Our students are encouraged and challenged to ask the hard questions and to develop the skills to answer them.
  • Year after year, the success of our students in high school testifies to the high quality of our curriculum and teachers.
  • We are convinced that, since learning and faith complement each other and are inseparable, academic excellence incorporates an unshakable Christian worldview.
