Marie Mountain Clark Scholarship Fund
Marie’s Story
Marie Mountain Clark, a long-time resident of Ann Arbor, was a firm supporter of Christian education throughout her life. She, and her husband John, have been guest speakers in AACS classes sharing both of their WW II Air Force flying experiences — she as a WASP, he as a B17 Flying Fortress pilot. After Marie passed away in 2008, an endowed scholarship fund at Ann Arbor Christian School was established in her memory.
The Scholarship
To honor Marie’s memory and to further impact students’ lives, a privately funded, endowed scholarship has been established at Ann Arbor Christian School. Every year, one student will be awarded a scholarship to cover tuition costs. The award will be based on four factors: academic performance (grades 3-8), Christian walk, financial need, and the child’s potential to benefit from a Christian education. This scholarship is designed for a child in any grade level K-8 and may be given to deserving previous recipients based on satisfactory achievement.
Application Process
- The application form asks families to provide academic performance documentation (grades 3-8), a Christian leader reference, and a written statement describing why the family values Christian education for their child’s future.
- Deadline for applying is April 15.
- The scholarship committee will review applications and select a recipient.
- Families are typically notified by May 15 by the Head of School.
- Recipients may reapply for the scholarship.
